Govt announces five decisions from Monday’s Cabinet meeting

The government has made public five key decisions taken by the Cabinet at its meeting on Monday.

Government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel announced the decisions following the meeting.

The Cabinet approved a grant agreement with the Norwegian government to receive around Rs 100 million in grant assistance for a programme aimed at promoting clean energy and energy transformation in municipalities.

The meeting also approved the Nepal Engineering Service, Formation of Groups and Division of Classes and Appointment (Second Amendment) Rules, 2026.

Similarly, the Cabinet approved the Alternative Development Finance Mobilisation Regulations, 2026.

The Cabinet also decided to forward to the Ministry of Home Affairs a report submitted by a committee led by former judge Baburam Regmi. The committee was formed to investigate and recommend whether criminal cases related to the Gen Z movement could be withdrawn.

The Cabinet further decided to promote Joint Secretary Padmakumar Mainali to the post of secretary under the Nepal Engineering Service grouping and assign him to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.
