Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has decided to suspend classes at all community and institutional schools in the city for two days amid the risk of flooding and inundation due to the forecast of heavy rainfall.
According to the decision taken by the mayor, all classes running in the day shift will remain closed on Thursday, September 24.
Classes in both the morning and day shifts will remain suspended on Friday, September 25, the sub-metropolitan city said.
The local government said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure in view of the possible risks of floods, inundation and other natural disasters.
It has urged parents to ensure children’s safety during the period of heightened weather risk.
The sub-metropolitan city has also asked parents and schools to ensure that children do not go near rivers, streams or other potentially dangerous areas and to maintain heightened vigilance.
All schools in Butwal have been directed to implement the closure decision accordingly.
