9 dead in a Rupandehi bus accident

Nine people have died and 32 are injured after a bus (Lu 2 Kha 3841) fell into a river from the Rohini Bridge on the Parasi-Bhairahawa road in Rohini rural municipality of the Rupandehi district in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The bus was heading towards Bhairahawa from Janakpur when it fell into the river. The injured were taken to Universal Medical College in Bhairahawa and  Bhim Hospital in Bhairahawa, informed Navratna Poudel, the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Rupendehi.

Only four of the nine dead have been identified so far, said Poudel. They are Bishnu Poudel, from Yogikuti, Krishna Prasad Basyal from Kalikanagar, Dinesh Das from Rautahat and Rajendra Prasad Pandey from Omsatiya rural municipality. Eight men and one woman died in the accident.
