The Dhulikhel-Dapcha section of the BP Highway is set to be widened, with a detailed project report (DPR) already prepared for the road expansion.
The Division Road Office, Bhaktapur, said it has planned to upgrade the existing 5.5-metre-wide road into a 10-metre-wide blacktopped road.
The Dhulikhel-Dapcha stretch covers around 20 kilometres.
Senior Divisional Engineer Suman Yogesh said the DPR for the expansion project has been completed, while a preliminary environmental assessment report is currently being prepared.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 3.79 billion.
The government has already distributed compensation for land acquired up to 15 metres on both sides of the road to facilitate the expansion work.
