Both Oli, Dahal call NCP CC meeting for Tuesday

L-R: Pushpa Kamal Dahal and KP Sharma Oli

Kathmandu, December 21

The division in the ruling Nepal Communist Party over Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives will get more intense on Tuesday as the opposite factions have called the central committee meeting on the same day.

The meetings called by Oli and another chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal will effectively split the party, formed after the merger between the two parties led by them in 2018. Although Oli-led party was bigger than Dahal’s two years ago, Dahal’s side is said to be stronger this time.

Pro-Oli leader Mahesh Basnet says Oli has called the central committee meeting for 9 am on Tuesday at Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar.

The Dahal-led side has already called the meeting for 1 pm on the same day. During the meeting, Dahal is likely to propose ‘disciplinary action’ against Oli.
