Two bodies found inside Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower tunnel

Upper Trishuli

Kathmandu, September 6

Two bodies have been found inside the tunnel of the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project in Rasuwa, on the 12th day since the devastating Bhotekoshi flood.

Project chief executive officer Giriraj Adhikari confirmed the discovery on Sunday, saying the bodies were recovered from the inner section of the tunnel.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been established, Adhikari told Onlinekhabar.

The discovery comes a day after rescuers pulled a Chinese national alive from the same tunnel. The individual was rescued from around 225 metres inside the tunnel.

Search and rescue operations are continuing inside the tunnel, with teams looking for other people who may have been trapped following the flood.

The Bhotekoshi River flood struck Rasuwa on August 26, causing widespread destruction across the district and leaving hundreds of people missing.
