Kathmandu, December 7

A senior leader of the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led CPN has claimed responsibility for all minor blasts that occurred in various parts of the country in the run-up to provincial and federal parliamentary elections, which are concluding today.

He says the explosions will stop this evening as they were targeted at protesting the polls.

“We led all incidents of resistance across the country,” the party’s politburo member Om Prakash Pun says, “We claim responsibility for all incidents as we led the poll cancellation campaign.”

A temporary policeman had died in such a blast in Dang whereas many including security personnel, party candidates and cadres had sustained injuries in the incidents.

Meanwhile, the leader says some runaway security personnel were also involved in the attacks.

Just today, six cadres of the party were arrested for their alleged involvement in an attack on Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa.
