Biplav-led party’s Sarlahi district leader killed in police firing

Kathmandu, June 20

Police and leaders and cadres of the banned Maoist party led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ exchanged fires in Lalbandi of Sarlahi district of southern Nepal on Thursday.

In the incident, the district incharge of the party died, according to Nepal Police spokesperson Bishwa Raj Pokharel. His name has not been revealed yet.

Pokharel informs that the party cadres had launched an attack on the police patrolling team in Lalbandi-1, near a way heading to Sindhuli district.

Police say some motorbike-borne cadres had opened fire with a homemade pistol, and they had retaliated in defence. While one of the attackers died, three others fled the scene.

Meanwhile, police confiscated a motorbike and three round bullets from the attackers’ possession.
