Bhaktapur teens stab, kill mate during drinking binge

Kathmandu, January 23

A teenage boy has been murdered, allegedly by his own friends, in Kamalbinayak of Bhaktapur municipality-10, east of Kathmandu, on Wednesday evening.

The victim has been identified as local Rohan Suwal, 15. Police have taken his two friends, aged 15 and 16 respectively, under control for their alleged involvement in the act.

Preliminary investigations have suggested that five teenage boys including the victim and the suspects had a drinking binge in Bholachhen, Bhaktapur-6 yesterday evening. During the event, a dispute ensued between them, which led to the murder.

Police inspector Kuma Bikram Thapa, the information officer at the Metropolitan Police Range in Bhaktapur, says Suwal was stabbed by the teens during the dispute. He was critically injured in the incident but breathed his last while being rushed to a local hospital.

Further investigation is underway.
