A staffer of the National Investigation Department has been found murdered in Nepalgunj of Banke.

The victim has been identified as Praveen Thapa, 27.

His body was found at an agricultural field in Labdawa, Suryagaun, Nepalgunj-18 of the district on Friday morning. However, the police had not identified the body until Sunday, informs DSP Subas Khadka of the District Police Office.

Thapa was an assistant informant of the department.

“The place where the body was found is around 2.5 kilometres away from his house. Apparently, a sharp weapon hit his head and that killed him as revealed in the postmortem,” Khadka says.

Investigations revealed that Thapa had reported to his office on Thursday and was in contact with the family, but he was incommunicado since Thursday evening.

“It seems he was murdered on the same day. We are narrowing down the probe,” Khadka says.
