Ballot boxes from Northern Gorkha airlifted to counting centre by helicopter

Gorkha, March 6

Ballot boxes from Chumanuwri Rural Municipality in northern Gorkha, which falls under Gorkha Constituency No. 1, have been transported to the vote counting centre by helicopter.

The ballot boxes from 23 polling centres in the area were airlifted on Friday by a helicopter of the Nepali Army.

According to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, ballot boxes from other polling centres in the constituency had already been collected by Thursday night.

An all-party meeting will now be held before the vote counting begins. The vote counting for Gorkha-1 will take place at the District Coordination Committee building.

Candidates contesting in the constituency include Sudhan Gurung of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Prem Kumar Khatri of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Lamichhane of CPN-UML, Hari Raj Adhikari of the Nepal Communist Party, and Kedar Mani Khanal of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, among others.
