Kathmandu, March 27

Inclement weather conditions in the Kathmandu Valley have affected departure and arrival of domestic and international flights to Kathmandu.

According to weather expert Shanti Kandel, several flights have diverted after failing to land at the Tribhuvan International Airport. While domestic airlines have also cancelled their flights.

The Jet Airways plane (call sign 264) diverted after failing to land at the TIA.  While another Jet Air flight (call sign 260 made a few rounds) in the sky after failing to make a touchdown. An Oman Airlines flight originating in Muscat and Indigo Airlines flight originating in New Delhi have also diverted.

The Air Arabia flight originating in Sharjah has also failed to land at the TIA, whereas another Air Arabia plane has not been able to leave the TIA.

Kandel said poor visibility in Kathmandu had affected flights on Saturday as well. It’s likely to rain on Sunday night, she said, hoping that weather will improve after that.
