Three arrested for allegedly abusing health workers, security personnel at Teku hospital

Kathmandu, October 2

Kathmandu Police have arrested three people for allegedly abusing health workers and security personnel on duty at Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku.

According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, those arrested are 41-year-old Ram Kumar Budhathoki, 23-year-old Ayush Budhathoki and 27-year-old Sachin Budhathoki, all residents of Kirtipur Municipality-4.

Police said the three allegedly entered the hospital’s emergency department at around 1 am on October 1 and verbally abused, threatened and physically assaulted health workers and security personnel on duty.

The District Police Range said it received information that the three had abused and threatened the staff and were involved in physical assault.

A police team deployed from Kalimati Police Circle reached the hospital and conducted an investigation. Police found that the three had allegedly been involved in the incident, said Kathmandu Police Range spokesperson SP Dan Bahadur Thapa.

The three have been arrested on charges of indecent behaviour, according to police.

Police have obtained a five-day remand from the Kathmandu District Administration Office and are investigating the case, Thapa said.
