The Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment has made preparations to import around 210,000 metric tonnes of chemical fertiliser by mid-August. The Ministry has forwarded a process to import such a quantity of chemical fertiliser through different media to ensure supply of the fertiliser required for paddy crop.
Thirty thousand metric tonnes of urea to be brought from India under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement would arrive in Nepal in the first week of August. Out of 180,000 metric tonnes of chemical fertiliser to be imported through a global tender with different countries, 60,000 metric tonnes is DAP fertiliser and 120,000 metric tonnes is urea fertiliser.
