Janakpurdham, October 11
An Armed Police Force (APF) constable has come under investigation over allegations of making videos promoting violence and using abusive language on TikTok with murder suspect Irshad Khan in Janakpurdham.
Constable Rishi Mandal is being investigated for making such videos with Khan, who is accused of stabbing a man to death in Janakpurdham.
On Thursday evening, Khan allegedly stabbed 24-year-old Amin Safi of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-5 to death. Another man, 25-year-old Imtiaz Rain, was seriously injured in the incident.
Police investigations have found that Khan, who was involved in the incident, was also known locally as a “goon”. Constable Mandal had made reels and TikTok videos with him several months ago.
In one video, Khan is seen taking a khukuri out of his pocket, displaying it and using abusive language while threatening violence. Constable Mandal appears to be supporting him in the video.
Police investigations have also revealed that Khan made several reels and TikTok videos targeting another community and promoting violence and communal discord.
Following the stabbing, Khan’s old videos have resurfaced and gone viral on social media. A video featuring Constable Mandal has also gone viral, prompting calls for action against him.
DIG Bishnu Bhatta, chief of the Armed Police Force’s Madhesh Province office, confirmed that Mandal was under investigation. He said the APF was also coordinating with Nepal Police on the matter.
“Following the stabbing incident in Janakpur, a video featuring Constable Rishi Mandal has also been going viral. The video shows behaviour that is against police conduct,” DIG Bhatta said. “He has been recalled from Parsa to the battalion, where he is being questioned and investigated.”
