The government of Sudurpaschim province has officially approved four provincial hospitals to function as teaching hospitals for the Martyr Dasharath Chand University of Health Science (MDCUHS). During a meeting of the Provincial Council of Ministers today, it was decided that Seti, Lamkichuha, and Tikapur hospitals in Kailali, along with the Mahakali Provincial Hospital in Kanchanpur, will be utilised for the university’s educational programmes starting this year.
Prayagraj Khanal, the Chief Private Secretary to Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, shared that the provincial hospitals will be used as teaching facilities in line with the University of Health Sciences’ guidelines. They will now move forward with the necessary legal and administrative steps after reaching agreements with the relevant agencies.
According to Section 20 of the Act, 2082 concerning MDCUHS, there is a provision for these hospitals to be used under an agreement. The Act states, “The University can conduct educational programmes in such hospitals or utilise them as teaching hospitals by entering into an agreement with the hospital in coordination with the government of Nepal, the provincial government, or the local level.”
