All municipalities of Kathmandu shut their offices until Aug 31

Kathmandu, August 24

All municipal governments in the Kathmandu valley have jointly decided to shut their offices until August 31 in their bid to control the Covid-19 spread. However, the municipalities will continue to provide essential services during this period.

A meeting of Kathmandu Valley Municipality Forum on Monday made the decision. The forum has mayors of all municipalities in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur districts as its members.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya, who chairs the forum, says the decision was taken after the number of active Covid-19 cases continued to rise in the valley.

Three district administration offices of the valley have also shut their offices except for emergency tasks until August 31.
