Kathmandu, November 8
Nepali Congress Joint General Secretary Ajaya Babu Shiwakoti has said he is going to appear before the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau after being summoned by the bureau.
According to Shiwakoti, the bureau called him at 11:30 am on Sunday and asked him to appear at noon. However, he is preparing to reach the bureau at around 1 pm.
“Although I cannot reach the bureau at the time they asked me to, I will be there at around 1 pm,” he told Onlinekhabar.
He said he had previously received information that the Cyber Bureau had summoned him, but could not appear because he was in India at the time.
Shiwakoti has expressed dissatisfaction on social media over being summoned by the bureau during the festive holiday period.
Writing on Facebook, he said, “Even during the festive holidays, the police have continued to press me to appear. I am heading to the Cyber Bureau in an hour. I will hold all my meetings scheduled for today at the Cyber Bureau, as far as possible.”
Shiwakoti said he had been informed that the bureau summoned him based on a complaint filed by journalist Roshan Khadka over a post he had made on social media.
However, he has not disclosed further details about the complaint or the reason behind the bureau’s summons.
