Passenger help desk set up at Jamunaha border point

Banke, October 6

The district administration has set up a passenger help desk at the Jamunaha border point to facilitate the return of Nepalis from India ahead of Dashain and Tihar.

With the major festivals approaching, the number of Nepalis returning home from India has been increasing. Banke Chief District Officer Dil Kumar Tamang said the help desk was established to prevent possible incidents of robbery and fraud targeting Nepalis returning home to celebrate the festivals.

He said the facility at the border point would help ensure the safe return of Nepalis.

“We’ve kept the safety of citizens at the centre and implemented a security plan after identifying possible risks,” he said, adding that the help desk would establish contact with relevant agencies and provide information to people passing through the border point.

Chief of the District Police Office, Banke, Angur GC, said the desk would also help curb criminal activities that could take place by taking advantage of the festive season.

Similar help desks will also be operated at bus parks in Nepalgunj and Kohalpur to provide information and assistance to Nepalis returning from India for Dashain.

Personnel from the Nepal Police and Traffic Police have been deployed at the help desks.
