Incessant rain has blocked road sections in five districts of Karnali Province, disrupting transport services.
On the Karnali Highway, the road has been blocked since Sunday at Tribeni Danda in Tilagufa Municipality-4 and at Bhattadi in Raskot Municipality-8, both in Kalikot. The blockages were caused by landslides and rain.
Likewise, a section of the Karnali Corridor blocked at Khachha in Sarkegad Rural Municipality-1, Humla, has yet to reopen. In Mugu, the blocked road at Talcha in Chhayanath Rara Municipality-7, on the Nagma-Gamgadhi section, has also not been restored.
In Western Rukum, the Mid-Hill Highway is blocked at Sisne in Sanibheri Rural Municipality-2. The concerned road division office said continuous rain is making it difficult to clear the road.
In Dolpa, the Bheri Corridor has been blocked by a landslide at Abbedula in Tripurasundari Municipality-5. Efforts are underway to clear the debris and reopen the road, officials said.
The respective road division offices said they will move ahead with the necessary work to reopen the blocked roads as soon as the weather improves.
Mukunda Prasad Rijal, chief of the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Surkhet, said the weather is improving and the necessary coordination is underway to clear the blocked roads.
