Hikmat Jung Karki, a member of the International Relations and Diplomacy Department of Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has met Amit Jogia, international relations director of the UK’s Conservative Party, in London.
The meeting focused on strengthening Nepal-UK relations and exploring possibilities for dialogue, cooperation and exchange of experience between the two political parties.
During the meeting, Karki briefed Jogia on the devastating floods that hit Nepal on August 26 and the situation that followed. He provided information about the loss of life and property, rescue and relief efforts, and the long-term impact on affected communities.
Jogia expressed a positive view of Nepal-UK relations and said the Conservative Party was interested in expanding relations, dialogue and cooperation with the RSP in the coming days.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of establishing institutional and formal party-to-party relations.
Karki said he would consult with the RSP’s central leadership after returning to Nepal and take the necessary initiatives on the matter.
The RSP has assigned Karki to its International Relations and Diplomacy Department, where he has been involved in international relations and diplomatic affairs.
