Kathmandu, September 24
CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet has said his party, along with other political parties, will launch a “strong movement” across the country after Dashain, Tihar and Chhath.
Speaking to journalists at the venue of the UML Central Committee meeting, Basnet said the movement would target the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
“After Dashain, Tihar and Chhath, a strong movement will move forward with the participation of the UML and other parties from Madhesh to all parts of the country,” Basnet said.
He claimed the movement would lead to the government’s defeat.
“After five or six months, the mask of the Balen government has become clear to the people, and the misconceptions among the public are also about to be cleared,” he said.
Basnet further claimed that the UML had become both a subject of criticism and a source of hope among the people.
His remarks come as the UML has been calling for stronger political mobilisation against the Shah government. Basnet has previously said the party should lead a nationwide movement against the government’s working style.
