The Nepali Congress has completed its municipal-level conventions in 12 of Kavrepalanchok’s 13 local units. The convention in Khanikhola Rural Municipality is yet to be held.
According to Congress, Wednesday’s completed convention elected Ram Joshi as chair of Banepa Municipality. He defeated his competitor Sudhir Baidya.
Similarly, Sanjay Tamang was unanimously chosen for a second term as chair of Panchkhal Municipality.
Likewise, Ramhari Sapkota was elected unanimously as chair of Mandandeupur Municipality, while Rupak Mahat was chosen unanimously as chair of Panauti Municipality and Bidur Basnet as chair of Dhulikhel Municipality.
Similarly, Manju Shah was elected unanimously as chair of Bhumlu Rural Municipality.
Shah, the only woman elected chair among the 13 local units, had previously been a general convention delegate.
Digman Tamang was elected chair of Bethanchok Rural Municipality; Khajenchi Lama was his competitor there.
Bikulal Tamang was chosen as chair of Temal Rural Municipality, Dorje Lama as chair of Roshi Rural Municipality, Sagar Moktan for a second term as chair of Mahabharat Rural Municipality, Krishna Lama Bomjan as chair of Namobuddha Municipality, and Rajesh Gautam as chair of Chaurideurali Rural Municipality.
