The Nepali Congress has completed its conventions in 9 of Rolpa’s 10 local units. In the remaining one, the convention could not be completed within the scheduled time.
Election Officer Sudip Gautam said that in all 9 municipalities, 21-member working committees, including the chair, women’s and men’s vice-chairs, secretary, joint secretary, and other members, were elected unanimously.
“We have completed conventions in about 90 percent of Rolpa’s local units. Only 10 percent, meaning one local unit, was unable to hold its convention,” he said.
Chair in the 9 municipalities
Ram Bahadur Budhathoki was elected chair in Rolpa Municipality, Roshan Giri in Sunilsmriti Rural Municipality, Mati Pun in Lungri Rural Municipality, Harka Ram Budha Magar in Sunchhahari Rural Municipality, Chetlal Khatri in Runtigadhi Rural Municipality, Prem Prakash Pun in Triveni Rural Municipality, Krishna Wali in Ganga Dev Rural Municipality, Pashupati Gharti Magar in Madi Rural Municipality, and Kul Bahadur Gharti Magar in Paribartan Rural Municipality.
However, the convention could not be held in Thabang Rural Municipality. Nepali Congress Rolpa Secretary Sher Bahadur Thapa said the convention in Thabang could not take place due to certain problems. “We completed conventions in about 90 percent of local units on Wednesday. In the 9 completed units, the chair and other office-bearers were elected unanimously. In one local unit, the convention could not be held within the scheduled time due to problems,” Thapa said.
It has been said that the convention in Thabang will be held by Thursday or Friday.
Under the Congress’s 15th General Convention process, the regional convention is scheduled for September 26.
