Kathmandu, September 21
A committee has been formed to investigate the bus fire incident in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu.
The Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, formed the investigation committee, according to AIG Sushil Singh Rathour of the office. The committee is headed by SSP Ramesh Basnet and has been given five days to complete its investigation.
A Riddhi Siddhi Yatayat bus, Ba 5 Kha 4274, caught fire. Bus driver Dawa Lama, 25, from Kavre, was seriously injured in the fire. Police rescued him and took him to a burn hospital in Kirtipur. Doctors involved in his treatment said his condition was critical.
A dispute had taken place between the driver and traffic police before the bus caught fire. Police suspect that the driver himself may have set the bus on fire. However, a conclusion will be reached only after the investigation is completed.
