Kathmandu, September 21
Police have reached a preliminary finding that the driver himself set fire to the bus in front of the bus stop at Tripureshwor Chowk, Kathmandu.
Police’s preliminary understanding is that the driver was inside the bus when it caught fire and did not flee, so he must have set the fire himself.
SSP Dilip Ghimire of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, also suspected that the driver may have set the fire and said an investigation is under way.
“The exact cause will be known only after a full investigation, but our conclusion from the investigation so far is that the fire was set by the driver,” he said.
The bus Ba 5 Kha 4274 caught fire. Police said the driver is Dawa Lama, 25, of Kavre. He has been sent to Kirtipur Hospital for treatment.
The Armed Police Force has put out the fire with the help of fire engines.
