Accounts of 12 local units in Dhanusha remain inoperative

Janakpurdham, September 17

The financial accounts of 12 local units in Dhanusha have not yet become operational even though two months of the fiscal year 2026/27 have passed.

As of September 16, the accounts of only six of the district’s 18 local units had become operational, according to the Treasury and Controller Office, Dhanusha.

The local units whose accounts have become operational are Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City, Ganeshman Charnath Municipality, Laxminiya Rural Municipality, Janaknandini Rural Municipality, Dhanauji Rural Municipality and Aurahi Rural Municipality.

The office said the accounts of the remaining local units have not become operational because they have failed to complete the required procedures.

Under the law, local units must have their budgets approved by their village or municipal assemblies, along with an appropriation act, authorisation, approved annual programme and inventory inspection to operate their accounts.

However, the remaining local units have not yet completed these procedures.

The municipalities whose accounts remain inoperative are Mithila, Chhireshwarnath, Mithila Bihari, Dhanushadham, Kamala, Nagarain, Hanspur, Sabaila, Shahidnagar and Videha.

Similarly, the accounts of Bateshwar and Mukhiyapatti Musaharnia rural municipalities have also not become operational, according to the office.
