Kathmandu, September 14
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), which has been suspended by FIFA, is preparing to stage a sit-in at the National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday, demanding that the suspension be lifted.
ANFA employees, referees and coaches, among others, will participate in the protest, according to ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai.
“We have issues related to lifting ANFA’s suspension, including whether we will be able to participate in the SAFF Games. We are submitting a memorandum to seek a solution to the problems facing Nepali football,” Rai told Onlinekhabar.
ANFA plans to stage a one-hour sit-in at the NSC premises after submitting the memorandum, followed by a press conference.
The protest programme was decided following discussions between ANFA and its employees.
FIFA suspended ANFA on June 24, citing third-party interference in the football governing body. The suspension has effectively left Nepali football in limbo.
ANFA leadership has accused the government of failing to take any initiative to help lift the suspension.
