FIFA suspends ANFA and halts all funding to Nepal football

ANFA

Kathmandu, June 25

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has suspended the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

The Bureau of the FIFA Council decided on Wednesday to suspend ANFA until further notice, under Article 14 of the FIFA Statutes. Citing the third-party interference, FIFA suspended ANFA.

With this decision, ANFA has lost all membership rights it held under Article 13 of the FIFA Statutes.

FIFA has stated that, for as long as the suspension remains in effect, neither Nepal’s national team nor its club sides will be permitted to participate in international competitions.

Similarly, ANFA or any of its members and officials will not be allowed to benefit from development programmes, training courses, or coaching initiatives run by FIFA and the AFC.

As a result of the suspension, teams from the national squad down to club level will be barred from taking part in international competitions, and funding received from FIFA and the AFC will be cut off. ANFA and any of its officials will also be excluded from participating in FIFA and AFC development programmes.

FIFA’s letter noted that the suspension may be lifted at any time by the Bureau of the FIFA Council or the FIFA Council, before the next FIFA Congress convenes.

According to the FIFA letter, the lifting of the suspension will be subject to the full revocation of the NSC decision of March 25, 2026, without any conditions, the reinstatement of the current ANFA Executive Committee, and allowing ANFA to finalise the electoral process already initiated as soon as possible and in accordance with its Statutes and regulations.
