Preparations are underway to partially reopen the Prithvi Highway at Krishnabhir in Dhading, where the road has remained blocked following flood damage.
Authorities are currently working to level the road and prepare a temporary platform for vehicle movement. Once the initial work is completed, an empty gas bullet will be driven through the section to test the road’s condition and load-bearing capacity.
A team led by the Dhading Chief District Officer has reached the site for an inspection, while various agencies and machinery have been mobilised to reopen the road.
Two bulldozers are currently being used to level and smooth the damaged section. However, graveling and compaction work is still pending before the road can be considered fully operational.
For the time being, authorities are attempting to make the road passable only for stranded gas bullets and vehicles carrying heavy equipment.
According to the project, if the weather remains favourable, gas bullets and heavy equipment-carrying vehicles could be allowed to move through the section partially from today.
Before allowing traffic, an empty gas bullet will first be driven through the road to assess its stability and capacity.
Although the road surface at Krishnabhir has been levelled and appears smooth, further work, including graveling and compaction, is required before it can be fully reopened to regular traffic.
The road has remained blocked since erosion caused by the Trishuli flood on September 26 damaged the highway section at Krishnabhir.
