The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to provide Rs 1.95 million in compensation to an employee who was injured by an electric shock while repairing a transmission line.
At its meeting on Wednesday evening, the NEA’s Board of Directors decided to provide Rs 1,978,301 to the injured employee to cover medical treatment, compensation and other damages.
Sher Bahadur Magar, 25, from Khotang and working at Ambote in Melamchi Municipality-10 under the Melamchi Distribution Centre’s jurisdiction, was injured by an electric shock on March 24, 2026, while replacing a disc pin on a 15 kV transmission line.
He was taken to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital for treatment, where Rs 978,301 was spent on his care.
Under the NEA’s Electricity Compensation Regulations, the authority decided to provide a total of Rs 1,978,301, comprising Rs 1 million in compensation and Rs 978,301 for treatment costs.
Magar has already received an advance of Rs 1 million. The board approved releasing the remaining Rs 978,301 to him through the relevant distribution centre, in line with the regulations.
