Kathmandu, September 8
WorldLink Communications Limited has provided Rs 10.1 million in aid for those affected by the Bhotekoshi flash floods on August 26. The internet service provider has deposited the amount into the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund. WorldLink’s CEO Keshav Nepal handed over the said aid amount to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle on Monday.
He mentioned that WorldLink provided that amount with the aim of helping in the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of the citizens affected during this difficult time of disaster. The recent flood has caused significant damage to WorldLink’s network and infrastructure. According to preliminary details, the company has reported a direct loss of around Rs 35 million.
Even though there was major damage to its own infrastructure, the company restored the affected network and resumed services within three days of the flood to ensure that customers and citizens were not left without internet for a long time, the company stated in a press release.
