Kathmandu, September 7
Internet and telecommunications services disrupted by the recent floods in Rasuwa and surrounding areas have been restored in most affected locations, with service providers including WorldLink, Ncell and Nepal Telecom accelerating repair and restoration work.
WorldLink CEO Keshav Nepal said internet services had resumed in major areas including Betrawati and Dhunche. Around 11,000 WorldLink users were affected by the floods, and about 8,000 routers are now back online. Service remains unavailable to some customers whose homes were destroyed by the disaster. WorldLink has also restored major fibre connections linking Rasuwa and Nuwakot, while efforts continue to reach three wards across the Trishuli River.
Ncell said 92 per cent of its towers disrupted by the Bhotekoshi floods have been brought back into operation. Of its 27 affected towers, one in Ghattikhola, Timure, was completely destroyed, while restoration of another tower in Timure, Uttargaya, is being coordinated with helicopter support to transport equipment.
Nepal Telecom said fibre repair and restoration had reached the final stage, with most work expected to be completed by Monday evening. Three towers in Timure, Chilime Khola and Trishuli were completely damaged, but connectivity has been maintained through alternative networks. The company is also using generators and solar panels to maintain services in areas without electricity.
