Another 155 Nepali nationals who had been stranded in China following the devastating floods in Rasuwa returned home through the Tatopani border point on Friday.
The Chinese side safely brought them to the Liping area of the Tatopani border point and handed them over to Nepali authorities. As part of the ongoing effort to bring Nepalis stranded in China back home after the floods, 114 people returned to Nepal on Thursday, the first day, followed by 155 on Friday.
According to Sindhupalchok Chief District Officer Shashidhar Ghimire, 145 of the 155 people who arrived in Nepal on Friday are residents of Rasuwa. One is from Dhading, and nine are from Kathmandu. Chief District Officer Ghimire said the Chinese authorities also provided Nepali officials with necessary details of the returnees, including their passport numbers.
After completing the required procedures, the returnees will be taken to Kathmandu. On the first day, Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality arranged transportation to Kathmandu for those who returned. On the second day, the Sindhupalchok Chamber of Commerce and Industry arranged transportation for the returnees.
A large number of Nepali and foreign nationals were affected by the floods in Rasuwa. The district administration said efforts to safely repatriate Nepalis stranded in China are continuing. Around 800 Nepalis are reported to have been stranded in China due to the floods. They are being brought back to Nepal gradually through the Tatopani border point.
