2 bodies recovered from Langtang Khola Hydropower Project Tunnel

Kathmandu, September 3

The bodies of two people have been recovered from the tunnel of the Langtang Khola Hydropower Project in Rasuwa.

A team of the Nepal Army deployed for search and rescue operations recovered the two bodies. According to project manager Bijay Man Bhattarai, the rescue team recovered the bodies from inside the tunnel.

Bhattarai said a team of hydromechanical engineers has now entered about 150 meters into the project tunnel to continue search and rescue operations.

A total of 41 people working at the 20 MW Langtang Khola Hydropower Project remain unaccounted for. Bhattarai said the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and the project’s technical team are currently conducting search and rescue operations.

Search operations were carried out up to 150 meters inside the tunnel on Wednesday. He said the search was intensified from early Thursday morning.
