Jumla, September 1
A total of 28 people from Jumla who had been out of contact following the Rasuwa floods have so far re-established contact.
Of the 76 people from Patarasi Rural Municipality who had travelled to Rasuwa for employment, only 23 have so far contacted their families, according to Rural Municipality Chairperson Purna Singh Bohara.
Chief District Officer Tej Prakash Prasai said the names and addresses of 99 people from Jumla who had travelled to Rasuwa for work have been confirmed based on information received from local governments.
Five additional people who had been out of contact have also re-established communication, although their addresses have yet to be verified, he said.
Most of the people from Jumla who travelled to Rasuwa for employment were men.
According to Chief District Officer Prasai, authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to search for and rescue 71 Jumla residents who remain out of contact.
Relatives of those missing have been appealing through the local administration for intensified search efforts.
