At least 104 Nepali nationals have gone missing after a massive flood hit the Kerung border point in China’s Tibet Autonomous Region.
Chinese state media CGTN reported the figure, citing information provided at a press conference held on Sunday morning.
According to CGTN, a total of 261 foreign nationals have gone missing in the disaster, with Nepalis accounting for the largest number.
Nationals of which countries are missing?
The figures released by Chinese authorities show that, besides 104 Nepalis, 49 Indian, 33 Latvian, 18 American and 15 British nationals are missing.
Six nationals each from Australia and Canada, four from South Africa, and three each from Germany, Malaysia and Russia are also missing.
Similarly, two nationals each from Estonia, France, Ireland, the Netherlands and New Zealand have been reported missing.
One national each from Finland, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain and Ukraine is also missing, according to CGTN.
Chinese authorities have informed the embassies and consulates of the respective countries in China about their nationals who remain missing.
Officials said at Sunday morning’s press conference that no foreign tourists are currently stranded in Kerung County.
