Flood-hit roads leave cargo trucks stranded in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu, August 28

The Nagdhunga-Muglin highway, a major route connecting Kathmandu Valley with other parts of the country, has been completely closed following Wednesday’s flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa. The Pasang Lhamu Highway, which connects to the Chinese border through Rasuwa, has also been closed after being severely damaged by the flood.

Cargo trucks that transport goods along these routes are now stranded in the capital. The roads from Kalanki to Balkhu are packed with large trucks, with trucks lined up along one lane of the road.

The trucks, which had been preparing to leave the valley, have been stranded since Wednesday afternoon.
