Kathmandu, August 28
Ten of the 140 people from Sudurpaschim Province who went missing after flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa have been found safe.
According to the Provincial Police Office, those who have made contact include Sunil Chaudhary of Bhimdatta Municipality-3, Kanchanpur; Chanda Joshi of Bhimdatta Municipality-6; and Ajay Rana of Bedkot Municipality. Similarly, Suresh Rana, Santosh Rana, Nabin Chaudhary and Adarsh Chaudhary of Belauri, Rakesh Bhatta and Pradeep Chand of Kanchanpur, and Sunil Budhamagar of Dadeldhura have also been found safe.
Provincial Police Office spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Padam Bahadur Bista said seven of them were working at a hydropower project, while Chanda is a nursing student.
It is not yet known why the other two had gone to the area. The number of people still missing stands at 130.
According to SSP Bista, 49 people from Kailali, 34 from Kanchanpur, 14 from Bajura, 17 from Dadeldhura, eight from Baitadi, four from Darchula, two each from Doti and Bajhang, and one from Achham remain unaccounted for.
Workers, employees and security personnel from Sudurpaschim who had gone to Rasuwa for work were caught in the flood.
