Kathmandu, August 27
Ncell Foundation has announced a contribution of Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts for those affected by Wednesday’s devastating flood on Rasuwa’s Bhotekoshi River.
With significant loss of life and property along riverside areas in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and other affected districts, and an urgent need for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of the affected population, Ncell announced the contribution in response to the government’s appeal.
Ncell expressed tribute to all those who lost their lives in the tragedy and deep condolences to the grieving families, while wishing for speedy rescue and relief for those missing and affected.
Ncell has also been supporting affected communities through its communication services during this difficult time. Starting Wednesday, Ncell customers in flood-affected areas have been given free voice and data services, and 100 SMS for three days.
This initiative is expected to help affected citizens stay in easy contact with their families, relatives, and rescue and relief teams.
Ncell’s Director of Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Sustainability, Bishakha Laxmi Khadka, said: “Standing with the affected people in this difficult hour of crisis is our shared responsibility. We have decided to make this contribution to support the government and relevant agencies in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.”
Ncell has previously supported rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts during various natural disasters.
