Kathmandu, August 27
The Nepali Army is continuing rescue operations for people affected by Wednesday’s devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa using five helicopters.
The Army said it rescued 97 people from the affected areas on Thursday. Three people were airlifted from the Mailung tunnel and 14 from Timure in the morning.
In addition to the helicopter evacuations, the Army rescued 63 other people through ground operations.
More than 2,000 personnel have been deployed from Nuwakot to Chitwan for search and rescue operations and to distribute relief materials, according to the Army.
Eleven Army teams carried out ground-based rescue operations overnight. Eleven Army trucks are also being used to transport relief supplies to affected areas as needed.
The Army said four consignments of relief materials have so far reached Timure.
Additional medical personnel have also been deployed as part of the Army’s medical teams to provide treatment to people injured in the Trishuli area.
