Kathmandu, August 26
Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said the situation has turned serious and worrying due to the flood in Rasuwa, and has urged high alert in riverbank and surrounding areas.
Through social media on Wednesday, he urged residents living along the lower reaches and surrounding areas of the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers to stay safe.
President Thapa requested the government to mobilize the entire state machinery during this disaster and coordinate with governments at all levels to focus on rescue and relief.
“The situation has turned serious and worrying due to the unexpected and sudden major flood in Rasuwa. In this disaster situation, I urge high alert and safety in the lower riverbank and surrounding areas of the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers,” he said.
Thapa said the Nepali Congress stands in full support and cooperation with the government’s efforts in disaster management.
He appealed to all Congress committees, and particularly to the leadership and members in districts including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan, to immediately mobilize for rescue and relief work.
“I appeal to move families living in riverbank areas to safe locations, and to immediately mobilize and help with rescue and relief work,” President Thapa said.
