The Manakamana Cable Car in Chitwan has been suspended following an unexpected flood.

The cable car service was halted after floodwaters from Rasuwa moved through the Bhote Koshi River toward the Trishuli River. Ujjwal Sherchan, deputy general manager of Manakamana Cable Car, said the service was suspended from 11:30 am as a precautionary measure.

“The flood has not reached the area where the cable car operates. However, since the water level could rise further, we have suspended the cable car service for safety reasons,” he said.

Vehicles travelling along the Prithvi Highway have also been halted due to the flood.
