Court has remanded a 27-year-old man in police custody for five days for allegedly assaulting a police officer deployed on duty at New Baneshwor.
The suspect, Raj Kathayat, originally from Tatopani Rural Municipality-2 of Jumla and currently living in Kathmandu, was remanded for investigation on charges of obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duty and engaging in indecent behaviour.
According to SP Dan Bahadur Thapa of the Kathmandu District Police Range, the court granted police five days to investigate the charges against Kathayat.
Kathayat allegedly attacked a police officer on duty at New Baneshwor on Tuesday after the officer asked him to use an overhead pedestrian bridge to cross the road.
Police said Kathayat assaulted the officer instead of complying with the instruction.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
