Nepali Congress leader Deepak Khadka has said he approached the Supreme Court seeking justice over what he described as unfair incidents within the party.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Khadka objected to what he called a campaign linking his name with claims that the court had been “set” after he registered a case at the Supreme Court.
He alleged that a planned campaign was being carried out to undermine confidence in the independent judiciary by portraying his decision to seek justice in court as an instance of “court setting.”
“I am seriously concerned about the campaign being carried out by certain individuals and groups, deliberately linking my name to claims of court setting with the intention of undermining the dignity of the independent judiciary and creating distrust when I have gone to court seeking justice,” Khadka said.
Khadka described the campaign as “misinformation” and expressed concern over what he called a deliberate attempt to undermine the dignity of the judiciary. He also urged the media to remain cautious about such claims.
Saying that he was a “soldier” fighting for justice and freedom, Khadka said he had equal faith and confidence in all courts. He also said he was fully confident that the Supreme Court would deliver justice in his case.
Earlier, Nepali Congress Central Committee member Kusum Thapa Magar had accused Khadka of claiming that he had “fixed” the court.
Thapa Magar alleged that Khadka had made statements suggesting that an order would be issued in his favor in a matter currently under consideration by the court.
In a social media post, Thapa Magar quoted Khadka as saying that he had arranged matters with the court to prevent a repeat of what happened when he was previously in jail.
According to her post, Khadka had allegedly said he had met certain Supreme Court justices at night and their people, and that a stay order and official recognition would be secured.
Thapa Magar also advised Khadka not to go around claiming that he had “managed” everyone from court employees to justices.
