Kathmandu, August 25

American country singer-songwriter Jessica Lynn has arrived in Kathmandu for a week of professional exchange, mentorship, and collaboration with Nepali musicians and music industry professionals.

The program, running from Aug 24 to 29, is part of “Arts and Music Envoy,” an initiative sponsored by the US State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Throughout the week, Lynn will engage with Nepali singers, musicians, songwriters, producers, artist managers, and other music professionals through interactive sessions on songwriting, the music business, digital platforms, copyright, and the broader music industry. Nepali artists and professionals will gain fresh perspectives on opportunities to collaborate with markets, audiences, and American music industry counterparts.

As Nepal’s music sector continues to grow, connecting its creative community with international industry perspectives could strengthen the sector’s ties to wider markets and audiences.

Acting US Ambassador Scott Urbom said the US-Nepal partnership extends into the arts, adding that the US is proud to share American cultural excellence this year as it marks 250 years of American independence.

He said music is a powerful medium connecting the people of both countries, and that the US is glad to contribute to the growth and creativity of Nepal’s expanding music industry by creating opportunities for American and Nepali artists and audiences to learn from each other, share perspectives, and build meaningful professional relationships.

The “Arts and Music Envoy” program will conclude with a public concert on Saturday, Aug 29, at The Plaza Convention Centre in Pulchowk, Lalitpur. Alongside Jessica Lynn, Nepali artists Raato Rani and Ujjan Shakya will also perform.

The evening will also feature a special fusion performance by Lynn and acclaimed sarangi player Kiran Nepali, a past participant in a US government exchange program.
