Young Nepali musician Saurav Sharma was honoured with the Youth Goodwill Ambassador Honour at MALHAR 2026 in New Delhi, India, on August 21.
The honour was presented by Indian Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan during the event, MALHAR 2026 – Connecting Youth with the Soul of Classical Music, organised by AntarHriday Connect Global Foundation.
Speaking at the event, the Vice President congratulated Sharma and said young people could serve as bridges of friendship between India and other countries through music and culture.
“Music is one of India’s greatest forms of soft power. It transcends language and borders and creates bonds between people without the need for translation,” he said.
The event was held under the patronage of Harsh Vardhan Shringla, a member of the Rajya Sabha and former Foreign Secretary of India.
Shringla also highlighted Sharma’s connection with India, noting that the Nepali musician has been a regular visitor to the Sri Sathya Sai Ashram in Puttaparthi, where he has performed on several occasions.
MALHAR 2026 brought together young audiences and prominent classical artistes, including vocalist Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar and Kathak exponent Pt. Rajendra Gangani.
The organisers said Sharma’s recognition reflected the role of young people, music and culture in strengthening the longstanding people-to-people and cultural ties between Nepal and India.
