Nepal, India agree to strengthen surveillance at sensitive border points

Nepal and India have agreed to strengthen security surveillance at sensitive points along their shared border by using modern technology, including CCTV cameras.

The agreement was reached at the 14th meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Working Group on Border Management, held in Dehradun, India, on Friday.

According to Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs, both sides agreed to use modern and advanced technologies and equipment to enhance security monitoring in sensitive areas along the border.

“Both sides agreed to increase security surveillance at sensitive locations in the border areas by using modern and latest technologies, including CCTV and other modern equipment,” the ministry said in a statement on the meeting’s decisions.

The two-day meeting, which began on Thursday, also discussed encroachment and unauthorised use of the no-man’s land, as well as the full operation and utilisation of Integrated Check Posts.

The two sides also held detailed discussions on mutual legal assistance and other issues related to border management.

“Detailed discussions were held on controlling encroachment and unauthorised use of the no-man’s land, the full operation and utilisation of Integrated Check Posts, mutual legal assistance and other important issues concerning border management,” the Home Ministry said.
