A Bangladeshi national has been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport after allegedly concealing gold inside his stomach.
The arrested man has been identified as Mohammad Russel Hawaldar. He was arrested by the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Police Office. He had arrived in Kathmandu on Flydubai flight FZ1133 on August 16 and was taken into custody by plainclothes police on suspicion.
He subsequently told police that he had concealed 150 grams of gold inside his stomach. A medical examination at Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal confirmed the presence of the gold. The gold remained inside his stomach even after he used the toilet.
According to SP Raj Kumar Silwal, he was admitted to the hospital and the gold was eventually recovered after five days through a bowel movement.
He was handed over to the customs office along with two capsule-shaped pieces of gold.
