Nepal Rastra Bank governor’s term proposed to be cut to 3 years

Kathmandu, August 20

The tenure of the governor and members of the Board of Directors of Nepal Rastra Bank is set to be limited to three years.

The parliamentary Finance Committee agreed at its meeting today to reduce the current five-year term of the governor and board members to three years.

Speaking during a discussion on a bill to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058, committee chair Krishna Hari Budhathoki said the bill proposes allowing the governor’s term to be extended by two years if their performance is deemed satisfactory.
